Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) is celebrated every year on the third Thursday of May. This day is to spread awareness among people by getting them to focus on digital accessibility. Many events are conducted worldwide to get everyone talking, thinking, and learning something new about digital access and inclusion. It was initiated by Joe Devon and Jennison Asuncion after a random exchange on Twitter. In many firms, the very people who are supposed to implement accessibility in websites and applications fail to meet the relevant standards because of a lack of awareness about how accessibility affects the people who depend on it. GAAD is an opportunity to delve into the root cause of discrimination against people with disabilities (PwDs) and address it, thus changing the world for the better.
